Car door locked, keys inside — door opening service
In most cases, a locked car can be opened without damage. Call +372 5610 1515, state the make and model of your car and where the key is exactly — and a service provider will come to open the door.
One exception first: if a child or animal is in the car, call 112 immediately. The Rescue Board responds to such calls faster than any commercial service and has the right to decide to break a window without waiting. Don't wait for us and don't argue — call 112, and only then, if necessary, call us.

Three different situations
| Situation | What happens next |
|---|---|
| Key is visible inside the locked car | Door opening on site |
| Key is lost or in another city | Door opening, but then you need a spare key or a workshop |
| Electronic key battery is dead | Often the door can be opened with a mechanical spare key or through an emergency opening |
| Central locking does not respond, battery is dead | Two problems at once — see dead battery |
| Key broke in the lock | Door opening, then locksmith or workshop |
If your car only opens with a touch button and the car battery is dead, then opening the door alone won't help — after opening, jump-start assistance is still needed. Mention both issues during the call, then the service provider will arrive with the correct equipment, and you won't pay for two separate call-outs.
Is opening safe for the car?
On newer cars, doors, windows, and seals are more sensitive than on older ones, and some models are known to be difficult. The service provider will assess on-site whether opening is feasible without causing damage. If they find the risk is too high — for example, due to safety curtains, electronic locking, or fragile seals — they will honestly tell you and offer an alternative: bringing a spare key or towing service to a dealership.
This is a conscious choice: it's better for us to say "we can't open this model without damage" than to cause you damage amounting to a new door.
What the dispatcher asks
- Location — street and house number, parking lot name, and whether it's an underground parking garage.
- Vehicle — make, model, and year. Registration number, if available.
- Situation — where the key is, whether the car is locked by central locking or mechanically, if the windows are completely closed, if the car battery is working.
The dispatcher may also ask if you can prove ownership of the car — this is standard practice and protects you. An estimated price and arrival time will be given during the call, before dispatch.
Price
Door opening is generally cheaper than towing, because the car is not transported anywhere. In Tallinn city center, towing starts from 65 €, in Harjumaa 75 €, night and weekend surcharge is 0 €.
Elsewhere in Estonia, the price depends on the distance to the nearest service provider, the type of vehicle, and the type of service. The exact price will be given immediately during the call, before dispatch.

Frequently asked questions
There's a child in the car. What should I do?+
Call 112 immediately. This is the Rescue Board's job, and they will arrive faster than any commercial service.
Does opening the door damage the lock or window?+
Not with the correct technique. If the service provider assesses that the risk is high for a specific model, they will state it and offer an alternative.
Do you also open doors in underground parking garages?+
Yes. Mention during the call that it is an underground parking garage — this determines access.
The electronic key battery is dead. Can you help?+
Mostly yes. Many keys have a mechanical spare key inside, and doors have a hidden keyhole.
Do I have to prove that the car is mine?+
We usually ask for this, yes. This is for your own protection.
