Dead battery — jump start on site

Most cars with a dead battery can be jump-started on site, avoiding the need for towing. Call +372 5610 1515, state your location and car make, and the dispatcher will send the nearest carrier with jump-start assistance.

Jump-start assistance is typically cheaper than a towing service, because the car is not towed anywhere — the carrier arrives, starts the engine, and you drive away yourself.

How it works

1
Call

Describe the problem and confirm your location

2
SMS confirmation

Share your live location by SMS

3
Wait for the truck

Once your location is confirmed you get an accurate arrival estimate

Is it really the battery?

Listen to what happens when you turn the key or press the start button:

What you hear and seeProbable cause
Cabin lights are dim, starter cranks slowly and fadesDead or old battery — jump-start assistance will help
Completely silent, no lights on, screen darkDeeply discharged battery or loose terminal
Lights are normal, but when turning key, only a clickProbably not the battery's fault — see starter not working
Engine cranks powerfully, but does not startFuel or ignition system, battery is fine

The most common reason is simple: lights or cabin lights were left on overnight, or the battery has simply reached the end of its life. Cold weather does not cause a fault, but exposes a weakness in an already weak battery — which is why the first truly cold night always brings a flood of calls.

What the dispatcher will ask

  1. Location — street and house number, or road number and nearest kilometer post. Also state if the car is in an underground parking lot: there is a height restriction, which determines what type of vehicle can access it.
  2. Vehicle — make, model, and approximate age. Some newer cars require extra caution when starting due to their onboard electronics.
  3. What happened — whether the lights were left on, if the car stood for a long time, or if starting has been harder in recent weeks.

Based on these answers, you'll receive an estimated price and arrival time during the call, before anyone is dispatched.

What the carrier does upon arrival

The carrier connects a booster device or donor car and starts the engine. Then, they check if the alternator is charging the battery — if not, there is no point in driving, as the car will die again in the first traffic jam.

If the engine doesn't start or the battery won't take a charge, there are two options: replace the battery on site or tow the car to a workshop. The carrier will advise which option they deem reasonable, and the dispatcher will confirm the price before work begins.

After a successful start, drive for at least twenty minutes continuously, preferably on the highway. A short trip to the store will not charge the battery sufficiently, and the same problem will recur the next morning.

Price

Towing service in Tallinn city center starts from 65 € and in Harjumaa from 75 €; jump-start assistance is cheaper. Night, weekend, and holiday surcharges are 0 €.

Elsewhere in Estonia, the price depends on the distance to the nearest carrier, the type of vehicle, and the service needed. You will get the exact price during the call, before dispatch. Also see towing or on-site assistance and service overview.

Frequently asked questions

Can a car with a dead battery be jump-started on site?+

Mostly, yes. If the battery is completely dead or the alternator isn't charging, we offer battery replacement or towing.

How much does jump-start assistance cost?+

Jump-start assistance is generally cheaper than towing. The dispatcher will tell you the exact amount during the call, before dispatch.

Do you come out at night for a battery issue?+

Yes, 24/7. A night call-out is not more expensive — the surcharge is 0 €.

Can I get help in an underground parking lot?+
